If you need heat—and you need it now—this is where things get interesting. We built these carbon fiber tubes for the kind of jobs where you can’t afford to wait around for a lamp to warm up. At 360mm long and pumping out 1000W, it’s a powerhouse. It doesn’t just heat the surface; it pushes energy deep into your materials way faster than those old-school metal filaments ever could. Why carbon fiber? Here’s the thing: tungsten gets incredibly hot, which can actually make the quartz tube sag or bow over time. Carbon fiber is different. It stays cooler while actually throwing out more infrared energy. The result? It ramps up almost instantly. If your part is only passing through the heating zone for a few seconds, that speed is everything. It’s the difference between a perfect finish and a wasted part. What’s under the hood Inside that high-purity quartz tube is a precisely woven carbon fiber element. We chose quartz because it lets the infrared light pass through without blocking it, and it doesn’t warp when things get intense. We also put a lot of focus on the seals at the ends. If oxygen leaks in, the filament burns out. Simple as that. So, we use specialized electrodes to keep the inside airtight and the lamp running longer. A few tips for the install When you’re wiring this in, keep in mind that these things react fast. Really fast. You’ll want to make sure your PID controllers are tuned properly, or you might overshoot your target temperature. And please,keep your reflector plates clean. If there’s dust or grime on those plates, the heat bounces right back into the tube. That creates a “hot spot,” and that’s how you end up with a cracked quartz tube. Not a fun way to start your morning. These are great drop-in replacements for most shortwave IR systems. Just one last thing: give them some breathing room. If the housing is too cramped and heat builds up around the electrodes, you’re just cutting the lamp’s life short. Keep the air moving, and you’re good to go.
