Carbon Fiber Drying Lamp: Focused Halogen Heat for the Workshop
We built this carbon fiber drying lamp for the folks who need heat on demand—right where they need it. It’s a shortwave halogen infrared emitter, designed to dry and cure fast, with a tight focus that stays on the work and off the rest of the machine.
Power, Voltage, and Size: The Practical Details
It runs at 2500W on 400V. That choice isn’t random. It pushes serious current through a compact 300mm quartz tube, so you get a lot of heat density in a small space. The short tube lets you concentrate energy on a tight spot without turning the whole machine frame into a radiator. The upshot? Heat-up is quick. In practice, that means shorter cycles on carbon fiber preforms and faster solvent flash-off on coated parts. But here’s the honest part: 2500W puts out real ambient heat. Plan your cooling accordingly—airflow, shielding, and thermal management have to keep up with the load.
Built to Stay Consistent: Halogen, Quartz, and Hardware
Inside, the shortwave halogen element keeps output steady over time. Halogen chemistry slows filament evaporation, so the lamp holds its temperature as it ages. We use a quartz envelope because it transmits infrared efficiently and takes thermal shock without flinching. The reflector coating is tuned to send energy forward and cut down on side heat. That keeps the process repeatable and protects nearby components. And the connection? It’s an R7s connector—an industrial standard that handles high current and stays secure. Installation is straightforward: wire it up, align the reflector, and get back to production.
What It Does on the Line
On the floor, this setup shines at carbon fiber drying and prepreg pre-heating. Fast response and localized heat mean fewer scrapped parts and less rework. It also works well for PET blowing preforms, where you want predictable heat without cooking the mold. You get rapid heat-up, energy that stays focused, and a tough mechanical design. It’s built to take the rough and tumble of daily use—but it still needs proper cooling and the right voltage. Match the system to the lamp, and you get dependable heat, shift after shift.
