Getting Your Printing Line Up to Temp with Carbon Fiber IR
If you’re running industrial printing machines, you know the struggle of getting the heat just right. We build carbon fiber infrared lamps specifically for those high-heat environments where standard bulbs just can’t keep up. Basically, we run current through a carbon fiber filament to create medium-to-long wave IR radiation. It’s straightforward, effective, and gets the job done. Depending on how thick your materials are or how fast your line is moving, you can go with either our 1200W or 1600W versions. Choosing your power Here’s the thing: it all comes down to how much heat you need hitting the surface. If you go with the 1600W lamp, you’re getting a lot more energy per inch. That’s great because it means you can either speed up your conveyor belt or shrink your curing tunnel to save space without worrying about the ink staying wet. Just a heads-up, though. If you jump up to the 1600W units, double-check your wiring and power supply. You don’t want to be dealing with tripped breakers or melted terminals because the amperage is higher than your system can handle. Why carbon fiber? You’ve probably used those quartz halogen lamps before. The problem is they rely on gas-filled tubes. If a tiny hairline crack appears in the glass, they can pop. Carbon fiber is different. It’s way more stable. Plus, the heat spreads evenly across the whole tube. You won’t get those annoying “hot spots” that warp your plastic or scorch the ink. It just feels more consistent. Fitting them in These are designed to be drop-in replacements for your existing IR arrays, so you won’t need to rebuild your whole machine. Just wire them into a PID controller to keep your temperatures locked in. But there is one catch. These lamps put out a massive amount of heat—not just toward your product, but into the air around the housing. Make sure your exhaust fans are actually doing their job. If the air isn’t moving, your electronics will start to cook, and your lamps will burn out way faster than they should. Keep them cool, and they’ll last.
