
Ever wonder why some brake pads just won’t stop squealing? It usually comes down to how the resin cures. If it doesn’t cure evenly, you end up with some spots that are denser than others. That inconsistency creates vibration, and vibration is exactly what you hear as that annoying high-pitched noise. We fix this with short-wave infrared (IR) lamps. They’re built to punch straight through to the core. Here’s the problem with standard convection ovens: they heat the surface first. The heat then has to slowly crawl toward the center. With thicker materials, the outside often burns or over-cures before the middle even gets warm. Our IR lamps don’t do that. They send radiation directly into the resin matrix. The core and the surface cure at the same time, leaving you with a consistent, uniform pad. We’ve dialed in these lamps for high wattage to help you get parts through the line faster. We use quartz envelopes with specific coatings to make sure the light hits the exact absorption band of phenolic resins. The best part? You can just drop these into your existing curing tunnels. It’s a simple swap. One heads-up, though. These tubes put out a lot of heat. Just make sure your exhaust hoods can keep up with the temperature spike, otherwise, you might warp your curing jigs. It all comes down to getting rid of that “cold spot” in the middle of the pad. When the cure is consistent, the noise goes away. You get a more stable part and a faster workflow. If you’re still relying on hot air and fighting with curing gradients, it’s time to try radiated heat. It fixes the problem right where it starts.
